The Inspirational Xtracycle Sighting

I saw a fella riding an Xtracycle this morning, probably to work, and I thought, wouldn't it be cool if all the cargo bikes in the area were linked somehow. Well, here's a forum.

I didn't see any contact info on the site, and I'm not sure how to "add" a cargo bike to the map (clicking and double-clicking didn't seem to do it). So feel free to add one in the approximate area of 14th NE and Michigan, with Bunker Hill Elementary as a landmark. I also blog at http://ijar.chiggins.com.

Cheers!

Well, I am WAY outside the beltway. Never even BEEN to DC, but I am with you in spirit anyway! Go X. Cargo bikes are way too useful!

chiggins:

Is it C. Higgins, or Chiggins? I fixed the linkery, but was having fun, so I added you to the map myself. The link in the sidebar should take you to the everyone-can-edit google-map.

Hi, I spotted an XtraCycle (Electra Townie 21?) twice in Shirlington (near Rt 395 and Shirlington Rd in south Arlington), including today May 6 in front of the Harris Teeter grocery store (near 28th St. S. & S. Randolph St.). The rider guy was shopping in the Harris Teeter. I wanted to add it to the map, but I don't know how. If someone can tell me how, I'd be interested. Or anyone else can add it if you like.

You need a google maps account, which is free. Click the link at the bottom of the map, or the "Add..." on the side, and it will take you to maps.google.com, where you can sign up, then come back to the map and click "Edit".... Don't forget to click "save" when you're done. google maps is nice because it allows you to make and save lots of personal or public maps, and mark them up with landmarks, overlays, etc.

Which reminds me, I saw an X yesterday morning...

david,

Thanks for your response, I have it added now. I never saw an "Add" at the side of the map, but clicked on the link at the bottom of the map and signed in. I'd hit "Edit" before, but hadn't noticed the edit icons including "place marker" on the map before.
